James Bond Island is located in Phang Nga Bay within the Straits of Malacca which such a rich and varied natural environment, it's not surprising that a number of different human cultures also co-exist in the local communities. Populated by Muslim sea gypsies, the village lies in the shadow of a large rock, which stands beside the local mosque's green dome. Immortalized in cinema history, this famous rock is often used as the backdrop to striking images known in Thailand as Koh Tapu which means nail, reflecting its wide peak which narrows towards the base.
