Many of the best handicrafts in Thailand are made in the north. On this excursion you visit workshops and factories along Sankampaeng Road to the village of Bo Sang, known as the umbrella-making village. Here you see how 'saa' paper is made from mulberry trees and turned into a wide range of products, including the village's famous painted umbrellas.

On the way back to Chiang Mai there are many other crafts to see, including silk and cotton weaving, lacquerware, silverware, teak wood carving, gems and jewellery, ceramics and pottery. The workshops show how the products are made and have showrooms. The excursion is flexible: just tell your guide which crafts you would like to see and they will do their best to fit in with everyone's wishes.
