Make friends respectfully with the gentle Thai elephant, Chang Thai, in its natural surroundings. At this ethical, eco-tourism sanctuary run by Eco Khao Lak Adventure, elephants can just be elephants: there are no rides, shows, elephant kisses or lying on the elephants.

You are picked up from your hotel in the morning or early afternoon. On arrival, enjoy a welcome drink with a panoramic ocean view and learn why it is important to take genuine care of the elephants. After the safety briefing, you prepare herb balls made from tamarind, bananas and more, and feed them to the elephants. Then you walk together with them, always at a safe and respectful distance.

The mahouts share insights into the elephants' daily healthcare, and at the information and education centre you learn about each elephant's background. Finally, enjoy a Thai set meal with various dishes at the Nai Muang Restaurant before returning to your hotel.
