At this ethical, eco-tourism Elephant Sanctuary in Khao Lak, you make friends respectfully with these gentle giants in their natural surroundings. Here elephants can just be elephants.

On arrival you enjoy a welcome drink with a panoramic ocean view and learn why it is important to take genuine care of the elephants. After the safety briefing, you prepare herb balls made from tamarind, bananas and more, one of the elephants' favourite treats. Then you walk together with the elephants, always at a safe and respectful distance, and watch them bathe. The mahouts share insights into the elephants' daily healthcare.

You see a presentation of Thai rice varieties and a traditional Thai kitchen, visit a local waterfall to refresh, and enjoy a Thai set lunch at the Nai Muang Restaurant. Afterwards, relax on a bamboo raft drifting down the jungle river, then visit the Sea Turtle Conservation Centre, home to hundreds of turtles.
